12th Nov 2011 - KL Sentul with Leo Kepong Baru at FRIM Tree Planting

Venue: Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong.

On 12th November 2011, LC KL Sentul organized an Outing cum Tree Planting Project with the Leo Club of SMK Kepong Baru. What made this project so memorable was because this outing with the Leos actually culminated from the CLAP training given to Secretary Lion James Chow, Lion Chris Lee and Lion Cheah Kim Hai. The trio have benefitted from the training they received from CLAP and were eager to put what they have learned into action. The pictures of our Leos enjoying themselves with Lions tells the whole storey. Shabas to DG Dr. Ben who conducted the CLAP sessions himself and whose passion towards the Leos inspired the Lions of KL Sentul to perform above their norm.
In a light drizzle that lasted throughout the whole project, the Lions and Leos were given a briefing on FRIM and “Awareness Towards Environment”, taken on a visit to Nature Trail and finally planted ten (10) Karas trees. Everything was wet but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the Lions and Leos.  It was not just planting the trees, prior to the planting exercise, each and every member were given a briefing on how to plant trees. A full description about the Karas Tree was also given to each member. Everyone benefitted as they were taught about the different types of trees and the types of wood that were produced from the different types of trees, what is the purpose of having trees on our planet and why we must maintain these trees to have a balance ecology where wild lives thrive.
A total of twenty one (21) Leos participated in this event accompanied by six Lions. OC for this project was Lion Chris Lee.
